Sadly too short a stay in this reallygreat inn -
Stayed on our way home from the Highlands on a Groupon 1 night deal - absolutely amazing value. Fantastic room, really dog friendly and great winter pub food, just what we fancied after a long drive. Just wish we could have stayed for breakfast, or longer, to appreciate the lovely area, but will definitely be back.

What a hidden gem -
We went to the Cross Keys for Sunday lunch yesterday and what a lovely surprise as we all wanted a Sunday roast and what we got was actually fantastic. Considering The Hotel is hidden away in the middle of the lowlands the quality of the meal and the service could not have been bettered in some of the posh restaurants in any of the city's in the UK. We all had starters and what a nice change to have everything fresh and not frozen then heated up. The main course was lovely roast beef with both mashed and roasted potatoes plus lovely fresh vegetables cooked to perfection. I did not have a pudding but the rest of our family did and they all looked really good and everyone said they were first class. We will certainly be back as the main menu looked really encouraging with which we were told are all locally sourced ingredients. If you like a lovely relaxing meal with excellent food in a beautiful part of the country you could not get better than the Cross Keys Inn. Even our teenager grandson liked all the food which must be a first !!!

Hidden Gem-Great Food -
Visited here a few weeks ago. The drive was a little scary lolThe hotel is on a very quite road, in the middle of nowhere! (or so it seemed)But there is a lot to see within short distances. The most pleasant surprise was the food - I just can't say enough, it was soooo good. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and I will most definitely be returning. Our room was on the small side, but clean. I think we had the smallest room, so my only advice would be to avoid room #5 if you can :-)

A pleasant start to a week away-
We stayed two nights bed and breakfast and we have no complaints whatsoever . The food was excellent and plentiful, our room was clean and comfortable, it was a beautiful quiet setting to relax in. Everyone made us feel very welcome and would return if we visited the area again.

2nd great stay within a year -
After our first stay here in Sept 16 and having left a great review then, we decided to go back to one of the best weekend breaks we have ever had, but this time under new manager Trevor. Margaret was a very hard act to follow, but the transfer has been seamless. The great customer experience continues, Chef still serves up fabulous good food from a great menu in very large portions including a very large Scottish breakfast. The range of drinks at the bar plus the 36 Gins are amazing. All the rooms including the bedrooms are full of character and you can have a great banter with the locals who make you feel very welcome. Just a 13 mile drive to Tweedbank lets you take the train direct into the heart of Edinburgh in just under 1 hour. Overall, Trevor and his team work very hard to make your stay great and not only do we highly recommend this Inn but it won't be long until we make another visit.

GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY-
We stayed 2 nights using an offer from groupon.Large clean bedroom with double and single bed.Evening meals were very tasty. I enjoyed the chicken and leek pie.Vegetarian menu was varied and very good.Continental breakfast was basic. Would recommend the scottish breakfast.Although tea and coffee facilities are not replenished automatically, this is not a problem. Just mention it to staff. We will be back.

We came across this inn on groupon and though the offer wasn't available we went ahead and booked it. Proved to be a great move. The rooms were spotless, the bed comfortable and spacious, the views were amazing and it was so tranquil and peaceful but the food was in a league of it's own! We had an evening meal in the bar.The haggis starter was amazing and the main course pie was delicious. Easily amongst some of the best food I've ever tasted. Really impressive was that the Inn caters for vegans with a full menu offering numerous choices for both starter and main. Breakfast was wonderful too with a choice of cold buffet items and cooked breakfast. The surrounding scenery was some of the most beautiful I've seen. Highly recommned the area and the Cross Keys.

Brilliant, food and staff great-
We stayed for two nights,We arrived and I don't know who made the mistake, us or Trevor. All I know was we arrived to find, no room at the inn. BUT Trevor bless his little cotton socks, gave up his room for us. He made up the bed etc, goodness knows where he slept.Well done Trevor for service above and beyond. As every one has said the food is delicious, try the lamb.Breakfast also filling and delicious.
